Step 0: Introduction. How to launch HitLens Activation Wizard

IMPORTANT: All you need to start analyzing your visitors is to:

1. Put the tracking code onto your Web pages using this Wizard

2. Upload all Web pages with the tracking code to your server/host

3. Upload webceo.js to the root directory of your site. You can get this file from the folder where you keep the local copy of your site.

This is a step-by-step manual how to start tracking your website with HitLens. The idea of the wizard-driven setup offered by Web CEO is slightly unusual, but it takes pain out of enabling traffic analysis for your website. If you have access to static HTML pages of your website, you can use HitLens Activation Wizard to:

  • add the tracking code to your HTML pages
  • give user-friendly names to pages to be tracked
  • assign content groups for advanced tracking
  • assign transactions for eCommerce revenue tracking
  • exclude your visits from statistics and analysis

The benefits of using the Wizard instead of manual code insertion are obvious:

  • The risk of mistakes is minimized;
  • No knowledge of HTML is required;
  • HitLens is automatically activated for your website.

To run HitLens Activation Wizard:

1.  Go to File > Project Manager
2.  Select your website
3.  Press HitLens Activation

You will be taken to the first screen of the Wizard.

Note: If your website uses PHP, ASP, JSP or any other server-side technology that dynamically generates your Web pages from database records, you need to go to Step 6: Custom tracking or go to the Custom tracking tab and choose Dynatracking for detailed instructions.
