Step 1: Setting passwords

Information on traffic to your website gives your competition strategic advantage. For the sake of security your statistics cannot be accessed without providing a password. To protect your business information HitLens has three passwords granting different levels of access to different categories of statistics viewers - your colleagues, partners, investors, etc.:

  • Master password. This password enables you to administer all HitLens settings. This password is usually revealed to webmasters, system administrators, i.e. persons who administer your website and need to be able to add the tracking code to new pages or disable tracking for the old ones.
  • Guest password. The guest password grants the right to view all statistics and traffic analysis reports except those related to eCommerce activity. This password should be given to those who need to analyze your traffic: search engine optimizers, third-party marketing and promotional companies, etc.
  • eCommerce password. In addition to the rights granted by the guest password the viewer is permitted to see reports on eCommerce activity and Ad campaigns. This password must only be given to persons who strongly need it - your marketing department, CFO, partners, investors, etc.
