Search Engine Knowledge Base
(see also search engine pulse service)
1. What the Knowledge Base is for?
Performing certain SE-related tasks (such as ranking check), Web CEO depends on many factors beyond our reach that frequently change and cannot be hardcoded (e.g., search engines ranking algorithms, submission guidelines, etc). We constantly maintain and develop several Knowledge Bases so that Web CEO always talks to the search engines their language and correctly interprets the retrieved results. Once you purchased Web CEO, you get free Knowledge Base Updates within three months. After this period expires, Knowledge Base Updates are offered as a premium service at an additional recurring cost.
The tools that require Knowledge Base to work are: Ranking, Link Analysis, Submission, Keywords, and Optimization.
2. Pricing
Research and maintenance continues 24/7. To offset costs we introduced support plans which give you an inexpensive way of keeping Web CEO knowledge bases up to date. The Search Engine Pulse service is not obligatory – it is up to you whether to order a support plan or not after 90 days of free support have passed although it is recommended that you order one or you may follow obsolete advice and get wrong analysis in tools that require constant updates (keyword research, ranking checker, submitter, optimization, etc.).
Web CEO will alert you when the Knowledge Base subscription expires. You will see the red button 'update Knowledge Base' in the Web CEO tray (bottom line of the screen) which you can press to subscribe to further updates.
You can order Knowledge Base updates for either 30, 100, 300, or 600 days.

3. How the updates work
By default, the software is configured to check for KB updates and automatically download them as they become available (we normally issue another update every 3 days). When the update is downloaded, you are prompted to install it.
You can change to another mode of Knowledge Base maintenance by going to File > Settings > General > Automatic Updates > Knowledge Base.
To cancel keeping your KB fresh, uncheck the box 'Keep my Knowledge Base up to date' (though this is not recommended). To avoid downloading updates automatically, switch to 'Notify me before...' - in this case, Web CEO will ask you before downloading another update.
When the Knowledge Base is downloaded, you are promted to install it. You can install it immediately (without shutting down Web CEO) if the tools that use it are not running at the moment - explicitly or in the background, via scheduled run. Otherwise, you will need to close them first. In any case, you can postpone installing the Knowledge Base until Web CEO next runs (then, it will be installed automatically). |
