Web CEO 7.7 Migration Guide

Dear Web CEO User,

We are glad to announce the release of Web CEO version 7.7. This page aims at providing you with the step-by step installation instructions and will also serve as a troubleshooting guide.

We don't expect you to have any troubles updating your Web CEO to v.7.7 if you regularly use and update the program - Web CEO offers an automatic update from v. 7.5. Users of 6.0 and earlier versions however may have a problem, so if you use the early version of Web CEO, please read the below instruction.

1. Download Web CEO 7.7

In order to upgrade to version 7.7, you should first download the installation package from http://www.webceo.com/download/.

2. Run the installer

Run the file "webceo.exe" that you have just downloaded. In most cases, the installer is smart enough to automatically back up your data files, then remove the previous version of Web CEO you have, install the new one, and prompt you to restore your profiles, projects, and settings from the right place. So just follow the installer's instructions and you are there.

3. Troubleshooting

In some cases, if the current Web CEO version you have installed is too old (5.5 and older), the installation process may be interrupted. In this case you will see a warning screen like one of the following (see below).

Case 3.1. Revision too old

1. You should install Web CEO version 6.5 first, then update it with version 7.7.
Download Web CEO 6.5, run the installer and follow the instructions. When Web CEO 6.5 finishes installing, run "webceo.exe" you've downloaded at step 1 to update your installation.

Case 3.2. Backup creation fails

In the process of updating your Web CEO, you have to manually create a backup, remove the previous installation, and install everything from scratch.
