Q: Can I use "Editor" to edit dynamic pages?

A: Editor is primarily assigned to work with HTML-based pages.
However, we have been using an improved kernel for our Editor tool in the current version of Web CEO, so you can edit PHP, ASP and other dynamic pages in the HTML mode, though the pages can be only partially displayed in the WYSIWYG mode.

Q: Can I use Editor for working with the Dreamweaver templates?

A: Yes, you can do this with the Web CEO 7.0 version.

When you work with the templates-based pages, Editor will recognize them and offer you switching to the "Dreamweaver compatibility mode". In this mode the non-editable regions of the templates are not active in the Editor.

Q: Can I use Editor to build a Web page from scratch?

A: Web CEO Editor is assigned for quick and easy editing of existing pages, but it is not meant for building web pages from scratch. It lets you easily change the META tags, headings, alts, link text and the page content, but it does not replace your favorite web design program (Dreamweaver, FrontPage, etc.).

Q: How do I select pages to edit?

A: To let Editor know what pages need to be modified, you should follow these simple steps:

1). On the first "Setup" tab press "My Site", then "Manage List". You will be given the "Page list manager" window.

2). There are two ways of selecting pages:

- click the small "folder" icon to browse to the folder where the pages are kept;

- import the list of pages: press the "Import from" button and select the option you would prefer. You can import the list of the URLs from the text file, from clipboard or from another project.

For more details, refer to the help manual inside your Web CEO program ("Help" >" Help Topics" > " Part I" > "Step 3. Edit your pages for search engines").

Q: I don`t have a local copy of the site. Can I edit my pages online?

A: No, this is not possible as Editor only works with local pages.

To save your site pages from the Web, you need to have the FTP access to your hosting server. You can then use the Web CEO Uploader to download site pages to your hard drive. As soon as you save your pages locally, you can open them for editing.

If you used a content management system to build your site and therefore cannot access your files via FTP, unfortunately you will not be able to modify your pages with Editor. In this case, the only option is to edit your pages in the same user interface that you used to create them.

Q: I`m not so computer savvy and wish to edit my pages with ease. Will Editor be of help?

A: Yes, certainly. Our Editor tool was designed specifically for optimization purposes, and is very convenient if you want to adjust your pages to improve your site's positioning in search engines.

Even if you are a novice and have never edited sites before, the specialized Editor structure makes access to your Web pages easy. Each tab in Editor combines two views of the page - visual mode and HTML code, so you can alter the visual copy of a page while seeing internal code changes in the background.
