Q: I cannot get the updates

A: Most likely, you have a firewall, an antiviral program, or traffic-blocking software that doesn't allow Web CEO to send and receive information through the Internet. To fix this problem, adjust your firewall settings as follows:

1) Make sure that Web CEO is granted access to 20, 21 FTP; 25 SMTP; 80 HTTP; and 443 HTTPS.
2) Enable cookies for the domains websiteceo.com and webceo.com.
3) Allow the application files 'webceo.exe' and 'wsceokrnl.dll' to send and receive information.
You can visit this page at our website for detailed instructions on the most popular firewall settings.

Q: I get "Field ..... not found" error. How can this be fixed?

A: For some reason, the program was not able to recognize the current database structure. This probably happened for one of two reasons:

1) You manually copied the contents of the Web CEO\DB\ folder from the old Web CEO version to the new one;
2) For some reason, the program failed to convert the old database to the new one. In this case, you should contact our support service (support@webceo.com)and send us the "wceodbm.log" that can be found in ...Web CEO\BIN.

Q: My KB subscription period has expired. What should I do?

A: To extend your KB subscription, follow these steps:

1. Click 'Update Knowledge Base' at the bottom right-hand corner of the Web CEO screen.
2. Select 'Get Subscription Rates' for prices.
3. Choose the desired KB support plan and hit 'Extend Subscription'.
After you subscribe, you will be able to download and install the latest KB updates.

Q: While getting the updates, I see the error message "cannot find CRC for the lst file"

A: Please don't worry if the DB update was not successful on the first try. Just reopen the program and double click on the plug button in the bottom right-hand corner of the program window. The program will reconnect to the Web CEO Datacenter for another attempt to find the update files.

This attempt will most likely be successful. Often such errors are caused by a broken Internet connection -- our program compares the checksums of the transferred files and if the check fails, you will get the CRC error.

Q: Why do I need to pay extra for my Knowledge Base subscription?

A: Once you buy Web CEO, all the program version updates are offered to you free of charge in future. As for the Knowledge Base updates, you only receive 90-days KB subscription for free with your purchase. You can read about it at http://webceo.com/pricing/sep-service.htm.

Search engines often change their algorithms and regular expressions. We have several tech specialists who track those changes in a thousand of SEs daily, and modify the Knowledge Base accordingly. That's why this service comes at an extra charge.

Those users who regularly use the Keyword Suggestion tool, Ranking tool, Link Popularity tool, Partners tool, Optimization tool, and Submission tool, will definitely need to have them updated on a regular basis. Those who use Hitlens statistics, Monitoring, Editor and Uploader only, won't need KB updates. That's why the KB updates are offered as an extra service.

So, in case you wish to use the Keyword Suggestion tool and the other mentioned tools to the full extent, and have your KB updated as before, please extend your KB subscription. You will be able to read the details and rates after you click the 'Update Knowledge Base' button at the bottom right of your Web CEO screen.

Q: Why should I update my Knowledge Base?

A: Search engines constantly change their ranking algorithms, regular expressions, submission rules and ways of presenting results pages. Therefore, software needs frequent updates to work optimally.

To let our clients keep their Knowledge Base fresh and up-to-date in accordance with the latest search engine requirements, we keep full-time developers whose only duty is to track the changes in search engines' algorithms and regular expressions and to change our Knowledge Base accordingly. Our research and maintenance continues 24/7, and the updates are issued every two to three days.

While it is not obligatory to get the Knowledge Base updates, it is strongly recommended that you do. Otherwise you may follow an obsolete piece of advice and get wrong analysis in tools that require constant updates (Ranking Checker, Submission, Optimization, etc.).
