Q: Can I set up the Scheduler to delete the old reports history?
A: The default period to keep your scheduled tasks history is 1 (one) month. You can change this period on the 'History' tab in the general Scheduler settings.
To access these settings, go to File > Settings and then select the "Scheduler" tab. In the "History" section, choose how long you want to keep the completed tasks information.
Q: Do I need to keep Web CEO open for the scheduled tasks to run?
A: The Scheduler can only run tasks when Web CEO is open. You can keep Web CEO open, by doing the following:
1. Go to File > Settings > "General" tab > Miscellaneous > Other
2. Check the box "Minimize to system tray when you close Web CEO".
3. Go to the "Scheduler" tab > General section.
4. Check the box "Run Web CEO on Windows startup".
Also, please note the Scheduler will not run tasks when it is deactivated. You can activate / deactivate the Scheduler by right-clicking its icon in the Web CEO tray (bottom right corner of the Web CEO screen) and selecting or deselecting "Turn On/Off Scheduler".
Q: How can I e-mail reports automatically with the Scheduler?
A: If you own the Professional (or Professional Unleashed) edition, you can e-mail reports automatically.
In the Task configuration window put the checkmark next to the "Mailing" option and define the e-mail address you need to send the report to, the subject of the message and the type of report (it should be defined at the "Reporting via e-mail" pane on the right).
Please take care to specify the mailing settings first:
Select 'Settings' on the 'File' menu, click 'General' tab, then 'Mail transfer' and check to see if the outgoing SMTP server address and port are specified correctly. You can look in your regular mail client for these details.
If your mail server requires authentication, you should enable the respective option in the mail transfer settings, and specify your username and password. Note that Web CEO supports only the Basic/Clear Text (and not Challenge/Response) scheme. Consult your mail service provider about the server authentication procedure they use.
If the server authentication type is not Basic/Clear Text, try using another e-mail service, where the authentication type is basic/clear text.
Q: What does it mean when a task is "expired"?
A: Let's take an example. If you set a task to run at 6 pm, but your computer is off, Web CEO is not open or the Scheduler is not active - the task is marked as expired.
When next launched, the program lists all the expired tasks. It prompts you to apply the default action or change their actions. You can turn this on or off by using the box "Do not show the "Expired tasks" window" in the Web CEO settings (File > Settings > Scheduler > General).
Q: Where can I find the name of the profile and other details describing the task?
A: In the current version of Web CEO, you can see these details in the Task Map: just point to the task and you'll see the name of the profile, the type of report and the scheduled time to run the report as a pop-up hint.
If you double-click on any specific task, you'll get the task configuration window. There you will see all the details for this task - profile used, report selected, number of search engines and keywords used, etc.
