Q: Can I add my own categories into the Custom SE list?
A: Yes, with the current Web CEO version you can group your custom SE list in the "Manual Submission" section by doing the following:
1. On the "Manual Submission" tab, select "Custom SE list" and right-click it.
2. Choose "Add new" > "Category" from the menu.
3. Enter the name of the custom category. You can add as many categories as necessary.
Q: Can the program automatically fill the submission forms when I submit manually?
A: The program can use the website information you entered for the auto submission to complete the submission forms when you visit pages with fields that the Autofill feature can recognize and fill.
After you've selected the search engine or directory and pressed 'Go to Submission page', the fields the program can complete are normally completed.
Q: How can I add a URL of the page I want to submit to search engines?
A: Web CEO sets the index page submission by default, but if you want to submit another single page, you can add its URL manually. Please do the following:
1. Go to the 'Setup' tab > 'Page Details'.
2. Uncheck the 'Submit home page only' option and click 'Manage list'.
3. In the Page list manager press 'Add pages manually' and enter the URL of the page. Click 'OK'.
Q: How can I apply submission rules to all search engines at once?
A: If you want to change the default submission rules for several search engines at once in the same way, you should take the following steps:
1. Go to the "Auto Submission" tab > "Select Engines", choose the group of search engines you want to submit to. Then highlight them - you can use standard methods such as SHIFT key + arrow up/down or CTRL/SHIFT key + left mouse.
2. Modify the submission rules (you can find them on the right-hand panel) - resubmission period, maximum number of pages to submit, etc.
3. After you have changed the submission rules, click "Apply changes" and the rule will be set for all the selected search engines.
Q: How can I check if my submitted sites are indexed by the major search engines?
A: You can check it with Web CEO Ranking tool.
In the "Features" menu, select "Ranking", go to the "2. Indexed pages" tab, configure and run the report to get the list of the page URLs indexed by different search engines.
You can also try an advanced search on Yahoo and Google - they support special syntax for that. To do this, type in 'site:your-site-name.com' in the search box, and you will be provided with the list of indexed URLs and their number at the top of the list.
Q: How can I submit multiple pages?
A: The 'Submit home page only' rule is set by default. To submit multiple pages, please do the following:
Go to the 'Setup' tab > 'Page Details' and uncheck the 'Submit home page only' option. Then press 'Manage list'. The Page list manager window will appear.
In the Page list manager press 'Import from' and select one of the options from the drop-down menu. You can have the program to import the pages list from your site by scanning links, from the text file or from clipboard. Besides, you can import the list of pages from another tool.
To import list of pages from another project, press 'Import from' > 'Advanced import'. You will be given a list of Web CEO tools where you can import pages from.
- Select the necessary project from the drop-down menu.
- Double-click on the tool's name: you will be given a list of profiles.
- Define the profile you would like to import the list from and press OK.
To make this rule applicable, please go to 'Auto Submission' > 'Select engines' and choose the SEs you want to submit to:
- highlight them - you can use standard methods such as SHIFT key + arrow up/down or CTRL/SHIFT key + left mouse.
- uncheck 'Submit Home page only'
- change the 'Submit maximum pages per day' number so that all of the pages you selected could be submitted.
Q: How do I change the resubmission period?
A: To change the resubmission period, please do the following:
1. Go to the 'Auto Submission' tab, 'Select Engines', choose the group of search engines you want to change the resubmission period for. Then highlight them - you can use standard methods such as SHIFT key + arrow up/down or CTRL/SHIFT key + left mouse.
2. On the right panel, check the 'Resubmit in ...' box, and enter the number of days (say, 30).
3. After that click 'Apply changes' and the new resubmission period will be set for all the selected search engines.
Q: How do I recommend search engines to Web CEO?
A: If you would like us to check if the search engine or directory can be added to the automatic submission section, click 'Suggest a Feature' in the Web CEO Support Center or contact support@webceo.com directly. We usually add new search engines to the Submission tool within a week or two if we find the search engine to be useful for the majority of our users.
Besides, you can create a search engine list of your own in the 'Manual Submission' section and submit to those search engines:
1. Go to the 'Manual Submission' tab.
2. Select 'Custom SE list'.
3. Click on the 'Add new resource' button under the search engine list. Alternatively, you can right-click on the 'Custom SE list' item and select 'Add new resource' on the pop-up menu.
4. On the 'SE/Directory Wizard' enter the information about the site you are going to submit to. The mandatory fields are: 'Name' and 'Submission page'. Click 'Finish' to complete the addition.
5. The site will appear under the 'Custom SE list'.
6. To get to the submission form, you should select the site and click 'Go to Submission Page'.
Note: you can edit details related to the added search engine by right-clicking on the site name and selecting 'Edit selected' on the popup menu. Similarly, you can delete a search engine or directory by selecting 'Delete resource' on the popup menu.
Q: How do I submit to Yahoo and Bing?
A: All major search engines, including Yahoo and Bing, are crawler-based. They regularly gather and update information about websites with the help of their robots; this is why they don't put much emphasis on other information-gathering methods. Often, their submission forms are not prominently placed, so it takes time to find out how to submit information to them.
However, you can submit your website information to such major search engines as Yahoo and Bing with the help of our Submission tool:
- Go to the 'Manual Submission' tab.
- To submit to Bing, select Bing under 'Manual' on the left panel.
- Read the helpful tips about the search engine.
- Click 'Go to Submission Page' to open the submission page in the browser window on the right panel.
- Enter the required details and click 'Submit URL'.
Note: to submit to Yahoo! search, you must have a Yahoo account. If you do not have such an account, please create one before you try to submit your webpage.
Q: What does the "Submission reports" tab show?
A: On this tab you can view submission reports for all of your submissions, both automatic and manual. There you can use one of the filters (view all submissions, successful submissions, auto submissions or manual submissions).
Besides, you can configure a profile for your project and use several filters at once: just press the 'All submissions' button, select 'New Profile' and set the preferences.
You can create as many profiles as you need and also edit existing profiles.
Q: When will the search engines include my site?
A: It depends on the search engine. Some will pick up the submitted sites in a few days or even minutes; others may tell you they have about ten billion sites in a queue, so you can expect their robot's visit in about a year.
For major crawlers (the ones that will generate 90% of your traffic), it is important that your site has many inbound links. In general, you cannot expect wonders overnight - it takes time for your site to get listed.
Unfortunately, search engines often provide no guarantee of inclusion of submitted sites in their search indices. They warn users of this on their submission pages. Our submission tool is intended to help the user submit data; it is not a special service that guarantees inclusion.
Q: Why have I started getting so much spam since I started using your Submission tool?
A: We try to avoid Free For All sites in our auto-submission section, because we do not believe they are likely to improve either your site's link popularity or traffic.
Nevertheless, we do not recommend that you specify your primary e-mail address in contact details on the submission form. Please create a special address for this purpose. Unfortunately, we do not control search engines and we assume that some operators of search engines may sign you up for their newsletters without your explicit permission.
