General enhancements

 

  • New Quick Launch mode designed in the spirit of the Web CEO Integrated Approach
    Every time you run Web CEO or press the GO button the Quick Launch window opens. It uses a task-centric approach and enables you to quickly access tools you need. Now you will see "Submit URLs" instead of "Submission" and "Get Traffic Reports" in place of "HitLens". Moreover, tools are grouped into three categories in accordance with the Web CEO Integrated Approach. (Do not worry - you will be able to use the old-school style, if you want.)

  • Data swapping with the Datacenter minimized
    Web CEO only connects to the Datacenter one time a day on the first run to download the latest Knowledge Base updates needed for the program to operate faultlessly. Many tasks will start 40-70% faster because the software will not have to connect to the Datacenter before starting a mission.

  • Improved and unified interface
    Web CEO 5 offers the following changes that make it more user-friendly:
    - Numerous visual enhancements such as new tabs and buttons, plus better    controls layout and clearer interface
    - Current Project list box is moved to the main menu

  • Quickly share your reports with colleagues and customers
    Now all Web CEO tools generating reports offer you an easy way to save a report as Web page, e-mail it to a customer or print it - simply go to the File menu and choose what you want to do.

  • Portability of user information including reports generated
    Your project information is stored in a database that can can be backed up and/or imported into Web CEO installed on the other computer. The information that can be imported includes the list of projects and all reports generated.

  • Back up your data and restore it if the worst happens
    You can back up all Web CEO's databases containing your critical projects data by running the Database Maintenance tool (Start > Program Files > Web CEO > Web CEO DB Maintenance). In case of emergency, e.g. OS reinstallation, power outages, etc. you will be able to unroll back-ups and recover your data.

New in Keyword Research

  • Get a detailed snapshot of competition for a keyword
    In addition to the general competition count Web CEO allows you to evaluate competition for each keyword in a specific search engine including link popularity, Alexa traffic rank for the top-ranked sites, Overture bid, etc. This information will help you understand if you should optimize your pages for that keyword or it is way too competitive so you will have few chances to get to the top-10.

  • See how many Web sites want to be at the top for your keyword
    We have changed the keyword suggestion tool so that after you have added a search keyword to Basket, you can still see the competition count column for your convenience.

  • Find out which keywords are ideal for search engine optimization and which are not
    The Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) compares the Daily World Searches with the number of competing Web pages to pinpoint exactly which keywords are good enough so you can use them while optimizing your site.

  • Save time by analyzing on-the-page factors only
    Off-the-page factors that influence your search engine rankings change relatively rarely. If you have checked your off-the-page parameters lately, you can uncheck the Analyze off-the-page factors option to speed up the analysis dramatically.

  • Bid a fond farewell to the nag screens
    If you are a user of the Free Edition, you will not be annoyed by the nag screens informing you that you can't do this or that. All unavailable features will be hidden not to tease you.

  • Optimization options are automatically saved
    You will not have to re-enter your optimization options - the page to be analyzed, keywords and competition because they will be automatically saved and you will see them the next time you run the optimization tool.

  • Professional terms occurring in the optimization reports are explained
    You can click on a term confusing you to get a comprehensible explanation of what is it for.

New in Editor

  • Speed up the search engine optimization process threefold or more
    Now you can enter up to three keywords and see their Keyword Frequency, Prominence and Weight in different areas of your page. Moreover, you can edit your pages and immediately see how the above parameters change. No switching to an external editor or re-running the optimization tool after you apply changes is needed.

    It is really simple to check if pages in question are well optimized for search engines. You have the Web CEO optimization advice open in one window and the Editor in another. Then you use the Editor to fix all problems found by the optimization tool. For example, if the optimization report is telling you that keyword frequency in ALT tags is too low, i.e. you should use it in this area a few more times, you switch to the Editor, go to the ALTs tab and make necessary changes. It is that simple.

New in Submission

  • Change submission rules for multiple search engine at one go
    If you want to submit say 5 pages a day to 23 search engines and re-submit them in 55 days, you will not have to change settings for each search engine. Simply select all search engines you want to submit to by holding the Ctrl key and set the desired options once.

New in Ranking

  • See the ranking progress on the screen without delay
    When you pres Start and Web CEO begins to check your rankings, you don't have to wait until the ranking mission completes. Results are displayed on the screen as they are obtained. If you previously ran a ranking mission, you will see the outdated information being updated.

  • Querying search engine has become even safer
    Now human emulation options enable Web CEO to imitate human activity and browser even more effectively. Web CEO 5 fetches images, style sheets and other objects found on search engine results pages. Yet the speed of processing reduces by only 10-20% thanks to the SmartScan technology. You may rest assured that your IP address and Web site will not be hurt because you query search engine results pages. Go to File > Settings > Ranking > Human emulation to adjust emulation settings.

  • The main reports now have history (changes history and competition history)

  • Google API support
    Now you may choose not to query the Google database as browsers do and access it directly instead, which is much safer.

  • Select search engines where you want to know your rankings by country or language

  • Use the 'Compare results to: Previous, Best, First' toolbar to quickly monitor your performance over time

  • All search engines but the major ones are organized into groups

  • Separate profile management is introduced

  • See the link popularity analysis progress on the screen without delay
    Again as with the ranking tool you don't have to wait until link popularity analysis completes. If you previously ran a mission, you will see the outdated information being updated as new data is being obtained.

Maintenance module:

New in Auditor

  • Scan large Web sites with plenty of pages
    The new database used in Web CEO 5 allows scanning site with a great number of pages.

  • Scan only problem pages to reduce time needed to scan a Web site
    If Auditor has found problems on your Web site and you fixed them, you can check the Scan erroneous only option for Auditor to scan only problem pages. This significantly reduces time needed to check if errors on your site are finally gone after your changes.


New in Uploader

  • Upload your files more effectively and flexibly
    The re-written Uploader tool is much better than its predecessor. In addition to the sleeker look'n'feel it offers new advanced features. For example, if you only want to upload all .gif images changed from June 11 to June 14, you will simply use the Advanced select feature and then press Upload.

New in Monitoring

  • Auto-detection of monitoring options
    If you are not sure which services and ports can be scanned by the Web CEO monitoring service, you can press the Highlight services available for monitoring button to check monitoring of which services and ports is available for your site.

  • Get free reports on your Web site uptime
    You can subscribe to the free monitoring service and get a weekly overview of your site uptime. (Of course, you can unsubscribe at any time.)

 

Analysis module:

New in Live Traffic Analysis

  • First 15 days of traffic analysis are free
    When you activate traffic analysis for a Web site, the service will be free for 15 days. At the end of the 15-day period you will decide if you need to continue analyzing your visitors, conversions, ad campaigns and revenues. Note that this rule applies to any Web site and any edition of Web CEO including the Free Edition. We don't want you to pay for the service you don't need.

  • Analyze unlimited Web sites for one small fee
    We canceled the rule making you pay the minimum of $5.9/m per site analyzed. Now for as little as $9.95/m you will be able to track and analyze as many sites as you like without incurring additional fees per site. In other words, you will only pay as you go and the monthly payment will be credited to your account and used to pay your bills.

  • Save money by choosing the service plan that suits your needs
    If you do not need to track and analyze ad campaigns and commercial activity, you will save by using the most affordable Power Reporting plan. Otherwise you will be able to use the eCommerce Reporting plan which is expensive by only 25%.

  • Save and earn money thanks to bulk discounts
    The more people visit your site, the less you will pay per visit. All analysis exposures (page views that were tracked) across all of your Web sites will be accumulated and will qualify you for a discount of up to 44% off the base price. Should we explain what this means to you if you resell traffic reports to customers or have large volumes of traffic?

  • Instantly deactivate the HitLens service when you no longer need it
    If you no longer want to analyze your traffic using HitLens, you will only have to go to the HitLens settings and press Deactivate HitLens so you won't have to contact Support to cancel the service.

  • Get a deeper insight into your commercial activity
    How many days or weeks pass before your visitors make up their minds to do something good for your business? How many times do they visit your Web site before they take action? How effective is each referrer in creating leads and sales? Take a look at the following reports to find out: First Transaction Cycle Time, Visits Before First Transaction, and Efficiency of Referrers.

  • Customize traffic calculation and analysis rules
    Not only can you analyze the performance of referrers (subscriptions, registrations, sales by search engine, site, etc.), by the last referrer, you can see the performance by the original referrer or ad campaign. This is utterly useful when your visitors research your product before taking action.

  • Enjoy the completely revamped look'n'feel
